19-year-old Iranian suspected of terrorist activities in Germany

German Police have arrested a 19-year-old German-Iranian man and two Moroccans suspected of planning a terrorist operation in German territory.

According to the French News Agency, the detainees are suspected of having ties to Al-Qaeda.

German media report the three suspects were arrested in North Rhine-Westphalia, and volatile material often used by terrorists was found in their possession.

The three suspects were transferred to Karlsruhe Prison yesterday, where the men will face a judge.

According to the federal prosecutor, the detainees are Abdolalim K. a 29-year-old Moroccan; Jamil S., a 31-year-old German-Moroccan, and Omid S. a 19-year-old German of Iranian descent.

They are accused of being members of a terrorist organization and were reportedly under surveillance for more than six months.

German federal police say they were tipped off by American intelligence about the suspects.

Abdolalim K., who was reportedly trained in the birder regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan on an Al-Qaeda base in 2010, is charged with carrying out terrorist attacks in Germany.

It is still not clear if there are any connections between these arrests and Thursday’s attack in Morocco, where a bomb detonated in a café, killing at least 16 people.
