The Human Rights Activists News Agency reports that Bodaghi was beaten and arrested on Sunday as he was visiting his colleague, Mahmoud Beheshti Langaroodi, another jailed teacher who was recently transferred to hospital from prison.

Beheshti Langaroodi has been on a hunger strike to protest his sentence and was transferred to hospital after his refusal to drink further exacerbated his health complications.

HRANA reports that a source close to Bodaghi has been informed that during the interrogation session on Monday May 9, his bail was set at 700 million toumans.

Bodaghi was arrested following the widespread arrest of activists and journalists in the aftermath of the 2009 election, which was marred by allegations of vote fraud.

He was sentenced to six and a half years in jail and banned from social activities.
