The Tasnim News Agency reported on Saturday March 12 that in a meeting with the governors of all provinces, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said the two elections were carried out with complete success and have yielded only a handful of complaints.

Fazli said voters in some ridings are becoming anxious about the delays in the Guardian Council’s approval, adding that “speeding up” the approval will put an end to such concerns.

According to Iranian law, the Guardian Council, in addition to qualifying candidates to run, must also approve the final outcome of the elections.

In the recent elections, 226 representatives were elected to parliament and another 64 have gone on two a second round of elections. The second round will be held in late April.

Meanwhile, 88 representatives were also elected to the Assembly of Experts.

Iranians have widely voted for reformist representatives that has upset the conservative factions of the Islamic Republic especially hardliner Ahmad Jannati who heads the Guardian Council.
