Mohammadi published a letter on the Human Rights Defenders website on Saturday December 19 addressed to Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi, writing that she was summoned to Evin Court without any prior notice.

Mohammadi had written earlier to the prosecutor to complain about mistreatment by the guards who had transferred her to hospital for medical procedures.

In this new letter, she writes that the guards now appear to have filed a complaint against her at the judge’s encouragement.

She writes that because she was not granted a defence lawyer, she refused to participate in the process and will have to attend court on Monday.

Mohammadi is a prominent Iranian human rights activist who had been released from an earlier jail sentence due to medical reasons but was then returned to jail since last May to serve a six-year jail term.

She has been continuously subjected to various forms of pressure on top of her imprisonment such as the denial of timely medical treatment and regular telephone contact with her children.
