Iran’s foreign minister has confirmed that he will have bilateral meetings with his Western counterparts involved in the Iran-5+1 talks on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, IRNA reports.
Mohammad Javad Zarif, who recently returned from visits to the four African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania, said on Thursday February 5 that he will have “thorough” bilateral talks with all of the relevant foreign ministers who attend the Munich conference.
Mohammad Javad Zarif has told ISNA that the meetings in Munich are not aimed at reaching a final agreement since all the parties will not be there; however, they are aimed at facilitating the talks.
The Chinese foreign minister is not attending the Munich conference and it is yet not clear whether Russia will attend at the foreign minister level.
The Munich organizers have said that there will be a panel discussion on Sunday examining the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 in the presence of the foreign ministers of Iran, the U.S., France and Germany and possibly EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.
