Guggenheim to exhibit work of renowned Iranian artist

The Guggenheim Museum in New York will display works by Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian from March 13 to July 3. The exhibition will include Abbas Kiarostami’s documentary, Monir, about the Iranian artist.

Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, a prominent Iranian artist, is well-known for her cut mirror and glass painting work.

The exhibition titled “Infinite Possibility” includes plaster and mirror reliefs, large mirror sculptures as well as works on paper.

Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian was born in Qazvin in 1924 and studied art in New York from 1945 to 1957. She then returned to Iran and transformed her artistic sensibility through her encounter with traditional art forms of her country.

Farmanfarmaian left Iran after the 1979 Revolution but returned in 2004, re-established her studio and resumed her work in Iran.
