Pars Wagon strikers return to work in Arak

After a two-week strike, 900 workers at Arak’s Pars Wagon agreed to return to work, giving management a chance to resolve their concerns.

Pars Wagon workers went on strike when the company refused to renew the contract of workers’ representative Ali Derakhshandeh Bakht.

IRNA reports that Pars Wagon workers returned to work on Monday January 5, after negotiations between management and workers’ representatives resulted in a tentative deal. The workers were asked to return to work as a show of goodwill, allowing the time for management to return Derakhsahndeh Bakht back to work.

Workers have also been promised that none of them will face any repercussions for taking part in the protest.

Earlier, the Arak Governor had announced that the province was firmly committed to resolving the labour protests and would not allow foreign media to exploit such news against the Islamic Republic.
