Washington Post reporter remains in jail as wife released

Yeganeh Salehi, a former reporter for the UAE’s national daily and the wife of Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, has been released after spending two months in a Tehran jail.

The Washington Post reports that according to Jason’s brother, Ali Rezaian, Yeganeh Salehi was released on bail last week and both husband and wife are in good health. Jason Rezaian remains in jail and, according to Ali Rezaian’s email to the Washington Post, he was visited by his wife last weekend.

Jason Rezaian and Yeganeh Salehi were arrested in Tehran on July 22, along with a photojournalist and her husband, while their home was searched and their laptop and notes were confiscated.

The photojournalist and her husband were later released on bail. Rezaian holds both Iranian and U.S. citizenship.

The release of Yeganeh Salehi was also reported by IRNA as being confirmed by “knowledgeable sources.”
