Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani
Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the head of Iran’s Expediency Council, has met with the families of a number of political prisoners and expressed hope for their release.
The Etemad daily reported on Tuesday September 2 that Ayatollah Hashemi met with the families and said that no one benefits from having people in jail on political charges.
At the beginning of the meeting, reports were given about the situation and health of the prisoners.
Ayatollah Hashemi expressed sympathy, assuring them that he will relay their concerns to appropriate authorities.
