Iran’s interior minister says that Hezbollah motorcycle patrols must attain legal permits before they can carry out any patrolling duties.
Khabaronline reports that Minister Rahmani Fazli told a press conference on Tuesday August 26 that the activities of Ansar-e Hezbollah, including their motorcycle patrols, cannot be allowed with the appropriate legal permits.
Ansar-e Hezbollah represents extremist factions in the Islamic Republic and often it often patrols public areas to enforce morality and dress code regulations.
Recently, the group’s actions have raised widespread criticism even from conservative Members of Parliament, who say they are interfering with the duties of law enforcement officials and inviting anarchy.
The minister stressed that mosques do not have the authority to dispatch law-enforcement patrols.
