Kermanshah officials announced that on June 24, three security officers in the city of Salas Babajani were killed by assailants at night.
The Mehr News Agency reports that Shahriyar Heydari, the Political and Security Director for Kermanshah Province, said the officers were on patrol in a security vehicle when they were targeted by gunmen.
ILNA reports that Heydari attributed the attack to PJAK, the Kurdish militant group that claims to fight for the rights of Kurdish minorities in Iran.
Last Sunday June 22, the Iranian army reported that a number of PJAK members were killed while trying to enter Iran through the country’s borders with Iraq and Turkey.
