Iranian activist Mehdi Khazali has been arrested again by Islamic Republic authorities. The Kaleme opposition website reports that Khazali announced the beginning of a hunger strike immediately upon his transfer to Evin Prison.
He also said that this is the thirteenth time that charges have been brought against him.
His latest charges are said to be “disturbance of public order and insulting the head of the Assembly of Experts.”
Mehdi Khazali has a personal website where he often publishes views that are critical of the establishment.
Khazali has been arrested six times since the 2009 election protests. He is the son of Ayatollah Khazali, a conservative member of the clergy who has disowned Mehdi Kahzali for his reformist views.
