Deputy Intelligence Minister Ali Khazai has announced the arrest of 30 people linked to Al Qaida. IRNA reports that according to the ministry the arrests took place across the country over the past month.
During the Mashhad Friday Mass Prayers, Khazai said the Ministry of Intelligence has been continuously grappling with issues involving Al Qaida in the country.
“These terrorist groups will not rest from terrorist activities in places of worship and pilgrimage,” Khazai said
He added that Al Qaida and the group called the Islamic Government of Iraq and Syria, which is now fighting against the Iraqi government, are terrorist groups “supported by Israel and the U.S. to commit crimes in Islamic countries and Iraq.”
