The Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare says 90 percent of workers engaged by the private sector are temporary contract workers, which he described as a “labour crisis.”
The Ebtekar daily reports that Hassan Hefdahtan said: “This situation means that 11 million workers, which is more that 50 percent of workers across the country, are temporary contract workers.”
He added that having millions of temporary contract workers means workers are deprived of being able to plan out their lives.
He went on to add that serious economic pressure on workers and Iran’s industrial crisis have led to workers signing blank temporary contracts with employers.
