2,500 workers from the Central Iron Ore Company of Bafgh have entered their nineteenth day of protests, according to the spokesman for the workers.
Bafgh Farda quotes Mohammad Abbasi Bafghi saying workers have stopped working to protest steps that have been taken to privatize the company.
The report adds that 28.5 percent of the company has been put up for sale on the stock exchange and acquired by the Khuzestan Steel Company.
Workers want the company to remain in public hands and its profits to be reinvested in the city.
Previously, an aide to President Rohani, Eshagh Jahangiri, had issued an order to stop the privatization of the Bafgh mines.
