Heavy storms ravaged Tehran Province on Monday June 2, claiming a number of casualties, and so far the winds have not died down.
IRNA reports that Tehran is under thick grey skies and experiencing heavy dust storms due to the atmospheric changes brought on by the storm.
Four people are reportedly dead and 27 wounded due to the storm, while at least 50 trees along streets with heavy traffic have reportedly fallen on the roads.
Winds were reported to have reached 130 kilometres per hour at Mehrabad Airport, according to the head of Tehran Meteorological Services.
The report adds that in northern Tehran, winds were accompanied by heavy rain and thunderstorms.
ISNA also reports that 50,000 households are now without power due to the storm. Tehran Power Generation has announced that power outages are due to fallen trees or objects blown out of homes and onto power lines.
According to ISNA, the winds will continue for the next two days in Tehran.
