More than 100 contract workers at the Ahwaz Water and Sewage Office gathered in front of the Khuzestan Province auditor’s office to protest the non-payment of their wages.
One of the workers told ILNA that the protesters had worked for the utility anywhere between five to 15 years and have not been paid since last October.
The report adds that the workers’ work insurance premiums have also gone unpaid during that time.
The head of Ahwaz Waterworks supported the worker protests, saying the contracting company has been negligent regarding their rights.
