A rise in the price of bread will have a severe impact on workers’ living conditions, a former secretary of the Association of the Iranian Supreme Islamic Council reports.
Alireza Heydari told ILNA: “Bread is an essential high-demand commodity and the most important item in the workers’ spending cart.”
He added that the rising price of dairy, meat, fruits and vegetables has already forced workers to replace these items with bread due to their declining purchasing power. Therefore, a rise in the price of bread could have serious effects on their diet and livelihood, as there is nothing else to replace bread on their tables.
Heydari insisted that the government must prevent any rise in the price of bread.
