Web-surfing pilgrims in Mecca have become a topic of concern for their travel organizers in Iran.
The Supreme Leader’s Pilgrimage Affairs website reports that cultural organizers of the trips say that internet surfing is wasting pilgrims’ time and causing a decline in attendance to worship and prayer rituals.
The report indicates that pilgrims, especially the younger generation, are swarming hotel lobbies and spots that offer Wi-Fi.
Organizers also report that many pilgrims to Mecca and Medina have even registered complaints about interruptions in internet service during the trip.
