Following new threats from Jeysh-ol-Adl that they will kill another one of their Iranian hostages on April 2, Ali Shamkhani, the head of Iran’s National Security Council, was quoted as saying: “Soon, terrorist groups like Jeysh-ol-Adl will be annihilated.”
The Fars News Agency reports that Shamkhani announced “serious programs by Iranian security forces to cleanse the eastern borders of the country” and he maintained that Iran’s eastern neighbours have little control over their borders.
He said that Iranian forces are planning how to restore order in the eastern regions and prevent the recurrence of terrorist incidents.
On Friday, it was also announced that the Revolutiaonry Guards are taking over the border administration and security of Saravan region in Sistan-Baluchistan.
