Iranian President Hassan Rohani has echoed the Iranian Supreme Leader’s call for an “economy of resistance”, saying that the concept will redirect the country’s economy in the coming years.
IRNA reports that on the sidelines of the Leadership Experts meeting on Tuesday March 4, Rohani stated that an “economy of resistance” is one of the chief topics of discussion.
“An Economy of Resistance can strengthen the foundations of the economy in a manner that will allow it to continue functioning in various conditions and prevent problems caused through malice,” Rohani said.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei introduced the term “economy of resistance” in the midst of the country’s rising economic problems and the widespread international sanctions imposed on the country, calling on the branches of government to devise methods of getting through the growing number of global crises in order to become “an inspiring model of an Islamic economic system.”
According to Ayatollah Khamenei, such an economy “will defeat the enemy in the economic war they are waging against the people of Iran.”
Now Hassan Rohani has picked on the term, saying: “We need to begin a new effort in the framework of the economy of resistance”, stressing that it would be the “directing factor in the country’s economy in the coming years.”
