
The Iran Meteorological Organization reported on Thursday January 2 that starting Friday, 24 provinces will be seeing temperatures below 0°C. Meanwhile, the Red Crescent and rescue operations report that in the past two days they have rescued more than 4,000 people in 14 provinces caught in snowy regions.
ISNA reports that the Iran Meteorological Organization has warned the precipitation is to continue well into next week with temperatures in 24 provinces falling below freezing.
Fourteen provinces are reportedly dealing with heavy new snowfalls and storms, and temperatures in Tehran Province will also hit a low of -4C.
The reports of many provinces facing severe cold weather come only a day after the National Iranian Gas Company reported gas shortages and called for energy-saving practices in every household.
