Ban Ki-Moon
The UN Secretary General has announced that he hopes the obstacles keeping Iran from taking part in the Geneva 2 talks will soon be removed.
Ban Ki-moon announced that he is in contact with the UN special envoy to Syria, Lakdar Brahimi, to finalize the list of participants in the talks to reach a peace deal for Syria.
There has been resistance to Iran’s participation in the Geneva talks, which are scheduled for January 22, 2014.
Iran was not invited to the last round of talks aimed at resolving the Syrian conflict; however, many countries such as Russia have called for Iran to act as an effective force in the quest for peace in Syria.
