Iran and Saudi Arabia along with 30 other countries are invited to the Geneva 2 talks aimed at ending the conflicts in Syria, an unidentified Arab diplomat has told AFP.
The report adds that 32 countries currently are invited to participate in the Geneva 2 talks, and that number could grow.
The report indicates that Syrian government representatives, the Syrian opposition, the permanent members of the UN Security Council, Syria’s neighbours, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Germany and Italy will participate in the talks.
The names of the participating states will have to be submitted to the UN by December 27.
The report indicates that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet responded to the invitation.
