The families of prisoners serving sentences for drug trafficking gathered once again in front of Parliament to call for reduced sentences for their kin.
IRNA reports that on Sunday November 25, more than 30 mothers, spouses and children of prisoners staged a sit-in in front of Parliament, calling for the abolition of the death penalty.
Under Islamic Republic law, drug trafficking is punishable by death.
In recent months there has been a surge in the number of executions of Iranian prisoners across the country, and most of the death row prisoners executed have been drug traffickers.
