Kalhor & Erzincan
The joint album, Kula Kulluk Yakisir Mi, created by Iranian Kamancheh player Kayhan Kalhor and Turkish Baglama player Erdal Erzincan, has made Songlines magazine’s top ten list for 2013.
Kalhor is known for his mastery of the Kamancheh and his unique fusion of classical Persian music with folk tunes from Kurdistan.
Kalhor has toured internationally and performed in many countries, and two of his works have been nominated for Grammy awards.
The British-based magazine Songlines was launched in 1999 to cover world music ranging from traditional and popular to contemporary and fusion.
