
Iran’s deputy minister of industry, mining and trade, Safdar Rahmatabadi, was assassinated today in Tehran.
IRNA reports that Rahmatabadi was targeted by unknown assailants while he was driving his car in Sabalan Square.
Rahamtabadi was reportedly shot in the chest and the head; however, reports indicate that the bullets were shot from inside the car. The bullet shells were reportedly found inside the car.
The report adds that there were no signs of an altercation. The victim was reportedly discovered by traffic police in the area at around 8:30 PM on Sunday November 10.
Rahmatabadi had also been deputy minister of industry in the Ahmadinejad administration.
The ministry interior announced on Monday November 11 that the death of the deputy minister was not a case of assassination.
