Workers laid off from the Zagros Steel Factory in Kurdistan staged demonstrations in front of the Iranian Parliament this morning, Sunday October 27.
The Khaneh Mellat website reports the protesters were calling for their return to work and payment of wages and benefits still owing.
The protesters have staged several similar demonstrations since last July, when 235 of them were laid off from the Zagros Factory.
Management has said that production at the plant was no longer financially viable and the workers had to be laid off.
The workers are mainly calling for the reopening of the plant and payment of three months’ unpaid wages and insurance.
