Rohani urges Swiss to advance nuclear negotiations

Iranian President Hassan Rohani has received the new Swiss Ambassador to Tehran, Giulio Haas, expressing Iran’s will to reach a win-win situation in negotiations with world powers.

The Iranian president added that the Swiss government could be instrumental in acting as more than just a host to the nuclear talks and he called on the Swiss government to help advance the negotiations.

The Iranian president referred to the talks between Iran and the six powers in Geneva last Tuesday and Wednesday, saying: “I believe that during the Geneva talks, the political will of the Islamic Republic of Iran became evident to both sides.”

The Iranian president has expressed determination to resolve the nuclear disputes with the international community.

President Rohani expressed hope that the Swiss government would relay Iran’s good faith in the talks to its U.S. counterpart.

Iran and the United States have had no diplomatic relations for more than 34 years, and during this time, the Swiss embassy has represented U.S. interests in Iran.

The Swiss ambassador expressed his government’s support for the easing of sanctions against Iran and assured the president that his country will make every effort in that regard.
