Another six political prisoners have been released from Evin Prison with a pardon from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.
The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that Mohammadvali Gholamnejad, Mostafa Badkobeyi, Ali Nemati, Farzad Rouhi, Mohammad Eshaghabadi and Bahador Alizadeh were released on the night of Friday October 11.
Earlier, Iran’s Prosecutor General reported that 80 prisoners had been granted a pardon by Ayatollah Khamenei
HRANA reports that Mostafa Badkobeyi was arrested for writing a poem that was critical of the Ahmadinejad government and sentenced to 18 months in jail, which he began to serve last December.
Mohammadvali Gholamnejad was serving a two-year sentence for links to the dissident group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.
Bahador Alizadeh and Farzad Rouhi were serving a four-year and a three-and-a-half-year sentence for “propaganda against the regime and insulting sanctities.”
Ali Nemati was arrested on “spying charges”, according to the report.
