Emad Bahavar
The Iranian judiciary has reduced the 10-year prison sentence given to Emad Bahavar, a member of Nationalist-Religious youth.
Bahavar’s lawyer reports that her client’s sentence has been reduced by three years as a result of the appeal process.
Bahavar, who was directly involved in the election campaign of reformist candidate MirHosein Mousavi in 2009, had been sentenced to 10 years in jail and a 10-year prohibition from receiving any social services. That ban still stands, according to Bahavar’s lawyer.
Bahavar is currently serving his sentence in Evin Prison. He has been there since 2009 and has been given only one short furlough, last March, for the Iranian New Year.
