Iranian border authorities say more than 34,000 people are being turned away from the country's borders on a daily basis.
Brigadier Geenral Hossein Zolfaghari told the Mehr News Agency that Iran is rejecting 34,000 “illegal arrivals” each day.
“Iran is in the corridor of immigration movements, and each month 3,000 illegal immigrants are arrested at the border,” Zolfaghari told Mehr.
While the head of border security did not specify the nationality of these foreign nationals, Afghan nationals comprise the largest group of immigrants to Iran.
