As 230 Iranian MPs announced their support for President Hassan Rohani’s statements in New York, prominent conservative MP Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri said the president’s position was a source of “pride and honour” for Iran.
Khabar-on-line reports that on Tuesday October 1, the MPs issued a statement describing Hassan Rohani’s speech at the UN as a mark of his “commitment to the values and ideals of the Islamic Revolution.”
The signatories stressed that the president’s statements presented “a powerful and peaceful Iran prepared to engage in dialogue and interaction on regional and international issues.”
The majority-conservative Parliament’s support for the president, who was endorsed by reformist forces in the election, is a significant development in Iranian politics.
