Iran has selected Asghar Farhadi’s film The Past as its entry for the 86th Academy Award.
KhabarOnline reported today that the deciding committee was closely split between Parviz Shahbazi’s Trapped and Farhadi’s The Past but it finally settled on the latter.
The committee, comprised of veteran Iranian cineastes such as Fatemeh Motamed-Aria and Masoud Kimiaie, was appointed by the Farabi Cinema Foundation.
Farhadi has already won a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar for his film A Separation.
The 86th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on March 2 in Hollywood.
