President Rohani headed for New York with busy schedule

Iranian President Hassan Rohani left Tehran for New York today, Monday September 23, to attend the 66th UN General Assembly.

Iranian media report that the president was accompanied by: Mohammad Najafi, the head of Cultural Heritage and Tourism; Hessameddin Ashena and Mohammadreza Sadegh, presidential aides; Mohammad Nahavandian, the head of the presidential office; Mohammadali Dashgheib, a Shiraz MP and member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, and Siamack Mereh Sedgh, the Jewish Representative in the Iranian Parliament.

Hassan Rohani has said the objective of the trip is to show “to the world the real face of Iran as a peaceful and cultured nation.”

The trip will take five days, and in addition to attending the UN General meeting, the Iranian president will also attend the meeting of NAM ministers and meet with Iranians who reside in the U.S. He is also scheduled for a number of interviews with foreign media.

His plane will land tonight at 7 PM local time at the JFK Airport in New York.
