Forest fires continue to rage in Golestan National Park after four days of efforts to put them out.The fires have affected 3,000 hectares.
The Shargh Daily reported on Saturday Sep. 21 that authorities have failed to deliver on all the helicopters that were promised to strengthen the firefighting efforts.
Golestan Forest rangers and protectors had managed to control the fire by Thursday night, but then winds blew it out of control once again.
The report adds that unofficial accounts claim the fire, which started last Wednesday, was caused by the unextinguished campfires of visiting campers.
