The Iranian national freestyle wrestling team has triumphed at the 2013 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest following the victory of freestyle wrestler Ezzatollah Akbari over Uzbekistani wrestler Rashid Kurbanov in the semi-final in the 74 kg category.
The last time Iran captured the world championship title was at the 2002 championships in Tehran.
This is the fifth time Iran has won the title, with previous wins in Yokohama (1961), Manchester (1965), Tehran (1998) and Tehran (2002).
Yesterday, Iranian wrestlers won two bronze medals in the 60 kg and 84 kg categories and on Monday they captured two gold medals in the 55kg and 96kg categories.
