Twenty-seven miners were killed and 20 others were injured after a mine in Afghanistan’s Samangan region caved in on the morning of Sunday September 15.
Regional authorities have announced that rescue efforts have ended and the bodies of the 27 miners have been retrieved from the debris.
Afghan media report that Hamed Karzai, the president of Afghanistan, has issued an order to investigate the incident and assist the victims and their families.
