Mohammadbagher Ghalibaf

Tehran City Council has elected MohammadBagher Ghalibaf as Tehran Mayor. Ghalibaf attracted 16 votes of the 31 votes cast by city councillors, which gave him victory over Mohsen Hashemi, the former head of the Tehran Subway System.
In the first round of voting, both Ghalibaf and Hashemi received 15 votes with one abstaining. In the second round, Ghalibaf received 16 votes.
Ghalibaf has spoken of “the management and development of human and social resources, developing the city’s Iranian-Islamic heritage, expanding the parks in the city and addressing the city’s traffic needs” as his chief concerns as mayor of the capital.
This is Ghalibaf’s third time serving as the Mayor of Tehran.
