Sultan Qaboos &Hassan Rohani
An Arab daily reports that Sultan Qaboos, the King of Oman, has proposed a direct meeting between Hassan Rohani and Barack Obama, the presidents of Iran and the United States.
The Al-Watan daily, published in the U.S., reports that Sultan Qaboos’s trip to Iran reveals Muscat’s willingness to act as a mediator between Iran and the United States.
The report also indicates that the King of Oman has a message for the new Iranian president from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.
Sultan Qaboos visited Iran last week, becoming the first leader of a country to pay a visit to the new president Hassan Rohani. There has been much speculation about whether he had carried a message from the United States for the new Iranian administration.
