A group of families of convicts sentenced to death for drug offences staged its third sit-in in front of Iranian Parliament today, Sunday September 1.
ILNA reports that the families are calling for “pardons and mercy” for their kin.
Previously, on August 22, the families staged a similar protest to call for stays of execution for “small drug-traffickers” and the elimination of the death penalty for such charges.
According to Iran’s criminal code, drug trafficking is punishable by death.
