
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, have emphasized the need for the speedy resumption of nuclear negotiations.
In the course of a telephone conversation, the two foreign ministers discussed various issues, including the prospect of beginning a new round of nuclear talks, Ria Novosti reports.
The report quotes a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry saying: “The two ministers discussed issues concerning Iran’s nuclear program and stressed the need to resume the talks as soon as possible with the aim of finding fruitful solutions to the current issues.”
The report also indicates that the ministers discussed the legal situation of the Caspian Sea, the situation in the Near East and Northern Africa as well as other issues.
