The Ministry of Co-ops, Labour and the Social Security Organization has announced that Saeed Mortazavi will not be a board member of the social welfare office.
Saeed Mortazavi’s connection with the Social Security Fund has been the cause of overt controversy because of his link to the death of detainees at Kahrizak Prison.
Mortazavi was appointed to the Social Security Fund by then-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Mortazavi had been dismissed from his position as Tehran Prosecutor due to the deaths at Kahrizak. Ahmadinejad, however, immediately appointed him to the helm of the Task Force against Smuggling and later to the Social Security Fund.
Parliament has challenged Mortazavi’s appointment to public office in view of his links to the Kahrizak case.
ILNA reported last week that before handing over the administration to the new president, Ahmadinejad had approved Mortazavi’s appointment to the Social Secrity Organization.
