Hassan Rohani’s proposed education minister, Mohammadali Najafi, defended his qualifications and experience while emphasizing his support for the Supreme Leader and the regime.
Najafi, who was education minister during Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani’s presidency, claimed that “80 percent of the education ministry” supports his return to the ministry and stressed that he is committed to expanding religious activities in schools.
He dismissed questions regarding his support for Ayatollah Khamenei, saying: “One who proposes to be a minster for sure believes in the Supreme Leader.”
Najafi stressed that that imposing a personal political agenda onto administrative duties would be “a disservice to the regime” and he added that he had always operated in a non-partisan manner while leading the education ministry.
