The Iranian national basketball team defeated the Philippines in the final game of the Asian championships, winning the sport’s top honour in Asia.
Mehr reports that Iran defeated the Philippines 85 to 71 on Sunday in Manila.
The Iranian team had won against Taiwan yesterday, which guaranteed the team a spot in the world championships that will be held in Spain in 2014.
This is the Iranian team’s third time as Asia’s basketball champions.
