Twelve people drowned after a van fell into a canal in the city of Dezfool in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
The Mehr News Agency reports that the van was returning from a wedding when it fell in the canal. Of 13 passengers, 12 drowned.
A young girl reportedly managed to swim to safety.
The report indicates that high speeds was the likely cause of the accident.
Two weeks ago, a minibus fell into the waters of Karoon Dam 3, killing 12 passengers. That accident is now being investigated by Prosecutor General Mohseni Ejei, who dispatched a delegation to Khuzestan to prepare a report.
