Iran’s president-elect will be handed the reins of the administration following today’s inauguration ceremony in Tehran.
Mehr reports that the ceremony will begin with current Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar reading a report on the process of the June presidential election, and then the head of the Supreme Leader’s office will read the presidential decree. Then Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei will hand the decree to the new president, and the president will present his four-year executive plan.
The president will then provide Parliament with the names of his chosen cabinet members, and the MPs will have two weeks to approve or challenge the choices.
According to ISNA, after the ceremony, outgoing president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will take the new president and his aides to the presidential building and personally hand over the offices to him.
The ceremony will take place at 5PM local time in Tehran.
