Ayatollah Khamenei has rejected Hassan Rohani’s suggestions for leadership posts in his cabinet, and the president-elect has reportedly dropped his earlier choices and introduced new nominees.
Saham News reports that Rohani’s choices for the ministries of intelligence, science, defence and culture did not meet with the Supreme Leader’s approval and were consequently dropped.
It is common practice to gain the Supreme Leader’s approval of certain cabinet appointments.
Bahar News reported on Ayatollah Khamenei's refusals, adding that, in any case, the president-elect should refuse to accept choices dictated by others.
Bahar adds that while Ayatollah Khamenei might express his disapproval of certain choices, he would never impose his own will on the president.
