Fires at Bamo Park near Shiraz have destroyed a large portion of the bird life there, environmental activist Ali Akbar Kazemini told the Mehr News agency.
Kazemini said the loss of wildlife and vegetation in the Bamo Park fire is extensive and has caused great concern to environmentalists.
Kazemini added that the area has a rich variety of animal and plant species that require immediate care for preservation.
According to the report, Fars Province has been very slow in responding to crisis situations, and recent fires at Bamo Park and the forests of Estehban and Pasargadm caused extensive damage because authorities did not provide adequate and timely responses.
