The head of Cancer Survivorship for Central Province has reported that the cost of cancer treatment across the country is rising at an alarming rate.
Ahmad Ghorbani said: “Currently, the cost of medication has quadrupled, and 13 percent of patients have abandoned their course of treatment.”
Gorbani added that medical insurance plans are refusing to pay for foreign-manufactured drugs due to their exorbitant prices.
He said 1,430 cancer patients are currently registered with his organization, 106 of whom are children.
He added that more patients have begun seeking the group’s support, especially in recent years, with 1,230 new patients in just the past year.
